Bali in Focus - Part 2

Moving on from the excitement and contagious vibrancy of Kuta, Seminyak and Nusa Dua, we made our way to the central highlands and after just over an hour’s drive found ourselves in the different and magical world of Ubud.

A total contrast. Suddenly surrounded by tranquility, green hillsides, rice terraces and historical landmarks, all in the cultural heart of Bali.

Generally associated with weddings, honeymoons, wellbeing and yoga retreats, you may be asking where having a conference, meeting or special event fits in in this scenic location of mountain vistas and flowing green valleys?

We thought the same, until we visited the properties and discovered the amazing opportunities!

Our first stop was Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve and a fantastic option for residential-styled meetings, retreats, leisure focused incentives and private celebrations. As it has 60 villas and suites, it’s an ideal location for an Executive company retreat.

Kamandula Ubud is another great choice if you’re after a traditional village atmosphere for your meeting. Here luxury accommodation is incorporated within a natural landscape featuring a river meandering through the resort and productive rice terraces.  They offer an exclusive butler service in their Club villas… what a great way to reward a top employee or customer!

The environmentally sustainable Maya Ubud Resort & Spa has a great mix of luxury rooms and villa accommodation, as well as the ideal welcome dinner venue for 80 guests. Inspired by the rice paddies, their Purnama open stage has views of the Petanu river valley and offers a truly unique setting for a partner program.

If you prefer to be closer to the main Ubud Village shops, restaurants and nightlife, then the 4-star Pertiwi Resort & Spa is a good option, as is the newly renovated boutique Ubud Village hotel.

In this area you find shops selling antiques, woodcarvings, paintings, jewelllery and a selection of the best art museums and galleries in the country, as well as an excellent craft market.

You’ll also find a recent addition  – the new Sens Hotel & Spa and Conference Centre which boasts world-class conference facilities in the centre of Ubud.  The ultra-modern, largest ballroom in Ubud can seat 210 people banquet style and 300 people theatre style and can even be transformed into a rain forest for a special dinner or celebration.

Again, it’s not all about work!

Ubud undoubtedly offers the best selection of the most relaxing retreats and resorts ranging from luxury villas with private pools, to those promoting wellbeing through their winning meeting and spa facilities, yoga classes and signature restaurants.  Think about extending your stay after your meeting to relax and recharge!

As you can imagine, ideas for team-building activities are plentiful. For those wanting an adrenaline rush, there’s white water rafting on the nearby Ayung river, Amazing Race activities and Quad riding, as well as more subdued options such as walking and cycling trails, cooking classes and chocolate making.

There’s no shortage of nearby sight-seeing activities for before or after your conference, such as, the Sacred Monkey Forest, Goa Gajah Elephant Cave, Royal Palace and Kintamani Volcano Tour.

This is just a taste of what’s on offer in Ubud. I can’t wait to go back to explore more exciting ideas for engaging conferences and events.

So many options, makes it a challenge to select the perfect spot for your event. But that’s something that we’re here to assist you with.
