How good is your employee value proposition?

Recent research released on international employer branding trends across 50 different countries and 30 different industries, surveying almost 2,500 managers, revealed some interesting insights into the top three attributes of employee value propositions world-wide.

We weren't surprised to find that these are the attributes applicable in Australia:

  1. A friendly work environment

  2. Challenging work

  3. Leaders who support an employee's development

Yes, they all sound straight forward and what the majority of CEOs would say is a given in their companies.

But, are they?

Have a think about your organisation and answer these questions:

  1. Do you have a good culture and good atmosphere in your workplace? Do people greet each other when they arrive at work or just walk with heads down to their desks? Are there opportunities for employees to socialise, to have a say and to not feel intimidated when offering an opinion?

  2. Are your employees enjoying challenging work? Are their goals and objectives clear to them and aligned to the company's vision and long term strategy? Are they allowed to think out of the box, innovate and be proactive?

  3. Are your leaders leading? Are they supporting and coaching employees and inspiring them to achieve and succeed? Do they provide ongoing feedback and communication? Are personal and career development plans part of regular review discussions? Are these plans being implemented?

Your answers had a lot of "No's"?

Not so great? Then take another look at your company and work out what it's going to take to make some changes to develop your employee value proposition. Some aspects can be implemented straight away, while others will take more time and commitment.

You've answered "yes" to most of the questions?

That's great, as you're on your way to creating a desirable employee value proposition, one which will strengthen your employer brand. Now spread the word and make use of employee generated content and employee ambassadors to really empower your attraction of top talent.

Yes! To attract and retain the best, it's critical to ongoing success to develop and maintain a strong EVP, aligned to your company's vision, values and engagement strategies.

Become a leading company and start changing the no's into yes!
